Luis Angel Montoya, 24, of Monon, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2025 at IU Health White Memorial Hospital in Monticello.
He was born on April 30, 2001 in Chicago to Bernardo and Reyna (Treviño) Montoya.
He was a 2020 graduate of North White High School. He was involved with the Monon Town & Township Public Library club as a young child, during his high school years, Luis also participated in Building Trades, worked for McDonalds and Rose Acres. After High School, he went on to work for Donaldson Company before beginning his career with the United States Postal Service as a Rural Postal Carrier in Monticello. He loved to be outdoors fishing and hunting. He loved family vacations tagging along with both siblings. He enjoyed spending quality time with his close friends. He had recently returned from his first vacation to Columbia. Luis cherished time spent with his family and friends especially his parents. He told them he loved them everyday and promised to improve their quality of life. He always cared for his parents with love and compassion during their various medical procedures. He never complained or thought twice to help others in need. He always acted out of kindness towards others.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by sister, Edith Montoya (Tito Posadas) of Monon; brother, Bernardo (Norma) Montoya Jr. of Monon; grandmother, Alicia Trevino of Monon; seven nephews and one niece which he loved all dearly.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello with the Rosary being prayed at 3:45.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 am Thursday at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church with Fr. Dan Duff officiating.
Burial will follow in the Monon Chapel Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the family to assist with funeral expenses. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.

Luis Ángel Montoya, de 24 años, de Monon, falleció el Viernes 20 de Junio de 2025 en el IU Health White Memorial Hospital en Monticello.
Nació el 30 de Abril de 2001 en Chicago hijo de Bernardo y Reyna (Treviño) Montoya.
Él era un Graduado del 2020 de North White High School. Estuvo involucrado en el club de la Biblioteca Monon desde una edad temprana durante sus años de Secundaria. Luis también participó en el Taller de Construcción. Trabajó en McDonalds y Rose Acres. Después de la secundaria, pasó a trabajar para Donaldson Company antes de comenzar su carrera en el Servicio Postal de los Estados Unidos como Cartero Postal Rural en Monticello. Le encantaba cazar, pescar y estar afuera. Le gustaban las vacaciones en familia con su hermano y su hermana. Recientemente había regresado de sus primeras vacaciones a Columbia. Luis apreciaba el tiempo que pasaba con su familia, especialmente con sus padres. Les dijo que los amaba todos los días y les prometió mejorar su calidad de vida. Él cuidó siempre a sus padres durante sus diversos procedimientos médicos.
Además de sus padres, le sobrevive la hermana Edith Montoya (Tito Posadas) de Monón; su hermano Bernardo (Norma) Montoya Jr. de Monón; su abuela Alicia Treviño de Monón; siete sobrinos y una sobrina que amaba mucho.
La visita será desde las 4:00 pm hasta las 8:00 pm del Miércoles 25 de Junio de 2025 en la funeraria Springer-Voorhis-Draper de Monticello, y el Rosario se rezará a las 3:45.
Una misa de entierro cristiano será a las 10:30 am del Jueves en la Iglesia Católica de Nuestra Señora de los Lagos, y el P. Dan Duff oficiará.
El entierro seguirá, en Monon Chapel Cemetery.
Podrán concederse contribuciones conmemorativas a la familia para ayudar con los gastos del funeral. Los sobres estarán disponibles en la funeraria y la Iglesia.
