Lydia Lee Elder, age 83, of LaGrange, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025. She was born on March 6, 1942, in Bowdon, Georgia, to the late Joseph William Lee and Iva McLeroy Lee.
Lydia worked for many years as a bank teller before her retirement. Throughout her life, Lydia dedicated herself to serving others. She held leadership positions in several volunteer organizations, including the Metro Girls Fastpitch Softball Association, the Henderson High School Tip Off Club, and the Northeast Athletic Association, where she tirelessly supported young athletes and their families. She was also an active member at Peachcrest Christian Church and Conyers Christian Church, where she was involved in small groups and participated in the Women's Ministry.
Lydia found great joy in working in her yard, reading and the Georgia Bulldogs. Her greatest happiness came from attending her grandchildren's athletic and school events. She cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the great care and love Lydia received from the staff at Vernon Woods during her final days.
She is survived by her son, Jared Elder (Christy); daughter, Lisa Dyer (Jack); brothers, Grant Lee (Ellen) and Barry Lee; grandchildren, Jake Dyer (Emily), Emily Boggs (Zach), Luke Elder (Evan), and Sally Arrington (Drew); as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will deeply miss her caring and faithful spirit.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Linwood Lee, Gwyn Merkison, and Jo Nation.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church on the Square. A memorial service celebrating her life will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church.
