Lynda Diann Peterson, age 69, of Murray, Utah. Born May 11, 1956, in Ashiya, Hyogo, Japan. She was the oldest of ten children born to Lloyd and Janet Peterson. Lynda passed away peacefully, after a valiant battle with leukemia, surrounded by her children, on July 1, 2025. She was a beloved mother, sister, friend, a dedicated educator, and a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Lynda grew up in a military family, moving often across the United States, which shaped her resilient and vivacious spirit. She graduated from John W. North High School in 1974 and later earned a degree in Education from BYU. Her passion for teaching led her to a 20-year career at Eastmont Middle School, and another 23 years at West Jordan High School, where she inspired many students in family and consumer sciences classes.
She married Richard Wilcox on February 12, 1982, and together they had three children-Carol,
Krista, and Robert-who she cherished deeply. After 17 years of marriage, Lynda and Richard
divorced. Her love for her children remained her greatest priority. She was an active and loving
mother; she hosted team dinners, cheered at dance competitions, and coached their softball teams.
Lynda was a woman of strong faith, serving in numerous church callings. A few of her favorite
callings were Primary chorister and serving in the Relief Society presidency. She loved serving her neighbors and members of her ward. Her unwavering testimony of the gospel, temple work, and power of prayer guided her life.
October 9, 2022 Lynda was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. Lynda was deeply grateful for her bone marrow transplant team at LDS Hospital, and IMC infusion center. Lynda especially wanted to thank Dr. Motyckova and Dr. Mitchel, who were truly extraordinary-kind, compassionate, and dedicated. Their care and support meant everything to her and her family.
Lynda had many passions and hobbies. She loved cooking good food, working in the garden, sewing, quilting, staying active, and living a healthy life.
Her joyful spirit, kindness, and dedication touched all who knew her. Lynda's legacy is one of faith, service, and love. She will be dearly missed but her example will forever inspire her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Krista and Ian Sylvester; her son, Robert Wilcox,
and 8 of her siblings Marcus (Tami), (Linda), Connie (Ed), Matthew (Kerry), Lisa (James), Keith
(Michelle), David (Tanja), Brian (Tiffany), and Lori (Wade).
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother John, and her daughter Carol, who passed away recently after her own battle with cancer.

Lynda was always first to cook and organize luncheons for families in the Ward or Stake who lost loved ones. Always with a loving smile. Now she is spreading that love to those like her that have left their loved ones. She's a bright star in the sky twinkling back to all of them and us here. Love you Lynda.
