Lynn Wayne Buck, affectionately known as Mike, passed away on August 2, 2024, at the age of 73. Born on September 10, 1950, in Drain, Oregon, Lynn lived a life filled with love, service, and adventure.
Lynn's early life saw him move across various states, including Oregon, Arkansas, and Texas. He graduated from high school and later attended Linn-Benton Community College in Albany, Oregon, where he earned an Associate of Science degree in Metallurgy.
Lynn proudly served his country in the United States Army from May 31, 1968, to February 6, 1969, including deployments to Germany and Vietnam. His time in the military spanned 2 years, 7 months, and 29 days, with six months spent overseas. His bravery and dedication to his fellow soldiers and his country were deeply admired.
After his military service, Lynn settled in Texas, where he continued to pursue his passions. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Raising his granddaughter and welcoming his first great-grandson brought him immense joy.
Lynn married the love of his life, Janice Buck, on October 28, 2000. Their marriage was a source of great happiness, and they shared many beautiful moments together. Lynn was known for his quick wit and sense of humor, as evidenced by a memorable story in which he, along with his nephew David, captured a jackrabbit with his bare hands in the woods, much to his nephew's delight.
Lynn is survived by his loving wife, Janice Buck; his sister, Joan Powell; his granddaughter, Jamie Candler; his grandson-in-law, Riley Smith; his great-grandson, Braylon Smith; and his nephew, David Paull. He is also remembered by many more loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Daisy B. Robertson, and cherished family members Sandie Barnum, Larry Candler, Robert Whaley, and Terry Whaley.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Dallas VA and the Dallas Methodist Hospital for the support, love, and care they provided to Lynn and his family during his final days.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024 from 6 to 8 in the evening at Midlothian Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at a later date at DFW National Cemetery.
Lynn Wayne Buck will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of love, service, and kindness will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
