Lynn Wahus Obituary

Published by Legacy on May 19, 2025.
Lynn Mortin Wahus, 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at the Benedictine Living Center in Garrison, North Dakota.
Lynn was born to Lauriz "Louis" Johannesen Wahus and Inga Marie (Kyllo) Wahus on May 03, 1932, in Rural McKenzie County, North Dakota. After his mother's passing, he was raised by his father and sister Ruth in McKenzie County, North Dakota. Just 2 days after Lynn turned 21, he was drafted into the Army and on May 8,1953 he was set to deploy. He was honorably discharged just after the Korea Agreement was signed.
Following his honorable discharge, Lynn married Katherine on June 16, 1956. To this union two children, Doug and Toni were born.
Over the years Lynn held different jobs including Berquist Trucking, his most recent job being with Taylor Ag. Lynn was a member of the Eagles Club and the American Legion Post in Watford City. He was also an avid pinochle player. When he went to tour the Benedictine Living Center to make sure he indeed wanted to live there, his first question was, are there any pinochle players here. Not only did Lynn enjoy a good game of pinochle he also was a huge Twins baseball fan. He really enjoyed watching their games on the television and we would always check on game day whether they won or lost because that would determine whether he was in a good mood or not. He was such a fan of the Minnesota Twins that on his last day with us, they were playing against the Baltimore Orioles on the TV and his last words were who are they playing and are they winning? After telling him who they were playing and that they were winning he laid his head back down so peacefully. Lynn will be dearly missed by his family.
Lynn is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Toni & Kurtis Kinden, his grandsons Troy (Kayla) Wahus, Catlin Kinden, Klint (Davie Jane) Kinden, great-grandchildren, Lilly Alton, Katelyn Wahus, Cooper Kinden, Adam Kinden, Brady Kinden, and Paisley Kinden.
Lynn is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Katherine (Turgi) Wahus, his son, Douglas Wahus, grandson, Matthew Wahus, parents, Lauritz & Inga Wahus, sister, Ruth Thompson, brother, Milo Wahus, nephew Glenn Wahus, cousin Ramona Niblock.
