Sadie Castle Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Girdner Funeral Chapel - Yreka on Dec. 23, 2025.
Our dear sweet Sadie Danica Castle left this earth for a heavenly resting place on November 17, 2025, following a short period of health challenges related to dementia and surgery. She was born July 12,1980.
Sadie will forever be cherished for the love and laughter she brought to the lives of her family and friends. She taught us all so much - she never wavered in her love, never discriminated, and gave the best hugs. Sadie was a queen of social media and never missed opportunities to send birthday wishes or poke a friend and was amazing at remembering special occasions. She was active in her faith and valued her church community for many years.
There was no such thing as an obstacle for Sadie. She snow skied (which may have included a few trips down the mountain in a recovery toboggan and hot chocolate with ski patrol). She swam competitively from ages 8-21 and loved cheering for her teammates as well as receiving encouragement from her team and even her competitors. Later, she made true friends in water aerobics and Sit & Fit classes at the YMCA. She rode horses in Avenal parades with her Papa and participated in the Stable Hands Equine program. She river rafted with Shasta Disabled Sports (and even tent camped, although she was a girly girl at heart and hated dirty hands). She participated in Special Olympics, Girl Scouts, gymnastics, and high school yearbook.
Sadie never let anything get between her and a good time she lived life and experienced joy fully, serving as a role model to the rest of us. She loved to dance and sing and switched up from church hymns, Christmas music, and pop whenever the mood struck. She was a country music fan and often channeled Blake Shelton to practice for American Idol on the regular. She was sure to be leading the crowd to the dance floor at any concert or event. She was the number one fan of the band Five AM and listened to their music and cherished their friendship for years. She loved rooting for the SF Giants and COS Women's basketball and never missed a chance to cheer in person. She kept up her glamour with regular spa day trips to Mirror Mirror. She traveled with her sister and friends to Cabo and Las Vegas and eagerly made trips to Alaska, Hawaii, and multiple sites throughout California. She went to Mexico with Teen Edge to build houses and everywhere she went, she brought her infectious smile and changed hearts along the way.
Sadie attended Yreka grammar schools and high school and Taft Community College, participating in the Independent Living program and living in the dorms. She had her own apartment in Yreka for 15 years and worked at the US Forest Service and the Siskiyou Opportunity Center in Yreka.
It was the greatest privilege to know her, love her, and live this life with her.
Sadie is survived by her parents Larry and Nancy Castle, beloved sister Logan Castle and sweet niece Gibson, and dear friends Baylie, Nati, Shannon, Brooke, Noelle, Ashley, Brezlin and Rachel. There are many many more family and friends that are saddened by her passing but celebrate with her as she does a jig in Heaven. She is preceded in death by her doting grandparents Putch and Violet Dauber.
