Malissa Lou Wageman 1976-2025
With heavy hearts we are sad to announce the passing of our beloved Malissa Wageman, daughter, sister, granddaughter, aunt, cousin, and friend. Who left this world peacefully at her home in Elk Grove, California. She was 48 years old and faced her battle with cancer with remarkable strength and grace. Her spirit and the love she gave so freely will forever live on in our hearts and continue to provide comfort and motivation for us all.
Malissa was born in Davis, California and was a lifelong resident of Orland, California. Her great grandparents settled here 100 years ago. 42 years ago, she was crowned the first Miss Glenn County Special Olympics. She also attended school at North Valley Services, which she loved to attend.
She is preceded in death by her Mother Sandra Wageman and her Father Greg Wageman.
She is survived by her sister Dana James, multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins. Due to the passing of her mother shortly after being crowned Miss Glenn County, Malissa was raised by her grandparents Art and Martha Powell, sister Dana, and eventually nieces Makayla, Jessica, Nephew Austin James, and then Greg her father which he passed March 2025.
In the face of sorrow, we come together to celebrate a beautiful life that brought joy to many even if it was taken too soon. Please join us for a heartfelt service on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Sweet-Olsen Family Mortuary. Viewing will be from 10:00 AM – 11:00AM, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM in the Sweet-Olsen Family Chapel. The burial will take place at I.O.O.F. Cemetery following the service.
Arrangements are held under the direction of Sweet-Olsen Family Mortuary.
