Margaret was the beloved mother of Cathleen Backus, Christine Backus, Louis (Grace) Backus Jr., and Paulette (Don) Treutle. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to 12 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to 21 great-grandchildren. Her family was the center of her world, and she found immense joy in watching them grow and thrive.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Louis Backus Sr., her parents, Michael and Helen Hencak, and her brother, Henry Hencak.
Margaret was known for her nurturing spirit, unwavering kindness, and warm heart. She had a quiet strength and a gentle presence that made everyone around her feel cared for. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and devotion to family.
Her memory will be forever treasured by those who knew and loved her.
A visitation for Margaret will be held on Saturday, July 19, from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 1pm at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Rd. (3 blks. E. of Van Dyke) in Utica.
The family asks that any memorial donations in honor of Margaret be made out to the Utica Lions club at: , or to the Utica American Legion post 351 at: .
