Margaret Ann Bard, 86, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2024, in Wilmington, DE.
Margaret, a beloved wife and mother, was one of fourteen children born in Morganfield, KY, on May 20, 1938. She was the daughter of the late James Earl and Margaret C. (Miller) Bickett.
She married George Allen Bard of Wilmington, in 1957. Aside from spending her earlier life in Morganfield and later traveling with her husband and children while he served in the military, Margaret lived most of her life in Wilmington. She was able to experience two tours of duty living in Europe and traveling through America living in five different states. Margaret worked as an assistant Home Economics teacher with the DOD school system while living in Europe and she worked part time with the Red Clay School District after moving back to Delaware in 1976. She was a devout Catholic and a member of Saint John the Beloved Catholic Church in Wilmington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband George; four sisters, Mary Pierson, Jane Miller, Judith Orenduff and Rose Shureck; four brothers, Joseph Donald, James Earl, Wallace Augustine and Charles Bickett.
She is survived by four children, Jeffery Bard (Kimberley), Mark Bard (Renee), Elizabeth Bard, and Katherine Bard Banks (Richard); six grandchildren, Michael Bard (Allison), Michele Morgan (Bryan), Brian Bard, Ashley Sherwood (Matthew), Kyra and Ava Banks; two step-grandchildren, Britney (Banks) Walton and Lindsey (Banks) Gardner; several great-grandchildren; one sister and four brothers, Alice Faye Higgs, Edward Vitalis Bickett, Hugh Phillip Bickett, Benjamin Peter Bickett and Aaron Joseph Bickett along with many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 am Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Saint Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, 2431 Frazer Rd., Newark DE 19702 with Fr. Edward Ogden. Burial will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
