Margaret Ann Lewis, affectionately known as Margie, of Rochester, Michigan, passed away peacefully at the age of 85 on July 25, 2025.

Margie was born on January 20, 1940, in Pontiac, Michigan, to Dee and Margaret (Casey) Mead. She was the younger of two daughters and grew up in Royal Oak alongside her beloved sister, Marilyn. Margie had a childhood filled with ballet lessons, trips up north, and treasured time spent with her many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She often shared stories about her large extended family and the playful mischief of her youth. She graduated from Shrine High School in 1958.

In 1959, Margie met the love of her life, Charles "Hank" Lewis, through a family baptism-Hank was a close friend of her cousin. They married on July 9, 1960, and shared a devoted partnership that spanned 65 years. Together, they raised three children: Michael (Sheryl) Lewis, Margaret (Raymond) Lopez, and Marie (Apollo) Asuncion. Margie was a proud and loving grandmother to five grandchildren: Evan, Megan, Caitlyn, Sydney, and Allison.

Soon after their first child was born, Margie and Hank moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming, while Hank was stationed at F.E. Warren Air Force Base. Margie embraced the adventure of living out west and developed a deep appreciation for the mountains, national parks, and the natural beauty of the region. The couple later returned to Michigan, settling first in Madison Heights and then making Rochester their home in 1971.

Margie was deeply committed to her community and church. She volunteered for more than 40 years with the Women's Auxiliary at Crittenton Hospital and served in a variety of roles at St. Andrew Catholic Church, including helping to coordinate the funeral luncheon program. As a devoted mother, she was active in her children's lives through scouting, school activities, and athletic booster clubs.

Later in life, Margie especially cherished time spent at the family condo in Port Austin, Michigan. She found great joy in hosting family gatherings, holiday parties, and Fourth of July celebrations. Her grandchildren were the light of her life-she loved bringing them to Port Austin, spending time on the beach, playing games, and supporting them at their dance recitals, sporting events, and competitions.

A lifelong animal lover, Margie found comfort and companionship in her beloved dogs over the years, as well as the birds, squirrels and chipmunks that frequently visited her porch.

Margie was such a wonderful person, she will be missed. We used to have such fun when our girls were on the drill team together. Our thoughts and prayers go to Hank and family. Love Jeanette, Michael and Samantha Evans.

Margaret was a kind, friendly, loving person, and had a funny personality when I would always meet her. She was always interested in my line of work as a deputy sheriff, and wanted to know of any new stories I might have about my encounters with the public. We all in the Ban-Joes of Michigan will dearly miss her as we all enjoyed going to her and Hanks's condo. after performing for Porch Fest.
