Margie June Spiers, age 79, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025, at Stormont Vail Hospital, Topeka. She was born on February 13, 1946 to Ira and Lela Spiers of Oakley, Kansas and graduated from Kansas State University in 1969 and Kansas State Teachers College (Emporia) in 1972. She lived a life filled with love, curiosity, and dedication to her family and community.
A longtime resident of Topeka, Kansas, Margie dedicated her career to helping children as a school psychologist in the Topeka Public School system before retiring in 2006. She was passionate about music, reading, and scrapbooking, with a special love for preserving her family's history.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents, brother Homer Spiers; brother and sister-in-law Virgil and Betty Spiers, sister and brother-in-law Edith and Donald Fienhold, and sister Ethel Spiers. She will be deeply missed by her sister-in-law Virginia Spiers and 11 beloved nieces and nephews, along with many other relatives and dear friends who were touched by her kindness, wisdom, and sense of humor.
Her love, guidance, and cherished memories will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2025 at the Oakley Cemetery, Oakley, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in her memory to Kansas State University. Memorials may be sent in care of Kennedy-Koster Funeral Home, PO Box 221, Oakley, KS 67748.
