Maria Rosa Cannatella (Barrancotto) passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025, at the age of 97 in Orlando, Florida.
Maria was born on May 17, 1928, in Palermo, Sicily, to parents Giuseppe and Vincenza (Macanuto). In 1950, she married Joseph Cannatella, a grocery store owner and U.S. Army veteran. After marrying, Maria and Joseph settled in New York City, where she worked as a seamstress. Together, they built a joyful life and raised two children, Jane and Emanuel.
Maria is survived by her son Emanuel (Barbara) Cannatella, grandchildren Bill (Christina) Hoffer, Joe (Allison) Hoffer, Allison (Stan) Hershonik, Melissa (David) Medoff, and great-grandchildren Oliver, James, Halle, and Quinn. She is preceded in death by her husband and beloved daughter Jane.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing on June 5, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at DeGusipe Funeral Home and Crematory in Ocoee, Florida. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for June 6, 2025, at 3 pm at Resurrection Catholic Church in Winter Garden, Florida.
