Maria Guadalupe Lopez "Grandma Lupe" gained her wings and met Jesus on July 17, 2025, at the age of 95 in Plainview, TX. A Rosary/Visitation will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Bartley Memorial Chapel. Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Plainview, Texas. Interment will follow at Plainview Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the supervision of Bartley Funeral Home.
Lupe was born on Thursday, February 27, 1930, to Jose Guerrero and Teodora (Qiorga) Guerrero in Lockhart, Texas. Lupe married Manuel Lopez on March 7, 1955, in Edinburg, Texas. They were married for 25 years and had 8 children. Lupe was a caretaker for Outreach Health Care in Plainview.
Grandma Lupe was a devout Catholic; she loved her Lord and was a Guadalupana for over 40 years. She had a loving spirit and a servant's heart. Her sense of humor was the best. She was funny, joyful, outgoing, and caring. She deeply cherished her two birds, Tweety and Birdy, as well as her dog, Chiwienie. She was very saddened when Chiwienie passed away in her arms, and she did not want to let anyone take him away from her.
Grandma Lupe was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Teodora Guerrero, her husband Manuel Lopez, 3 triplet babies, a granddaughter Veronica Ruiz, her four sisters, Elisa Maldonado, Altagracia Cabrera, Manuela Silva, and Eloida Guerrero, and three brothers, Leonel Guerrero, Juan Guerrero, and Ruben Guerrero.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Richard Lopez of Weslaco, TX, Manuel Lopez and wife Mary of Plainview, TX, Rolando Lopez and wife Julia of Donna, TX, Raquel Lopez Garza and husband Juan Castillo of Plainview, TX, and Norma Lopez Rodriquez and husband Joe of Plainview, TX; one brother, Jose "Pepe" Guerrero, Jr. of Houston, TX; 18 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren; plus numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.
The family would like to thank those who took care of our mom, and Traditions Health Hospice for taking such good care of "Grandma Lupe."
