Maria Ramero passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Thursday, June 26, 2025 in Dallas, Texas. She was born on July 6, 1938 to Jesus and Cecilia Romero in Rotan, Texas.
She married John Martinez on July 7, 1953 in Rotan. They moved to Chicago, Illinois shortly after their wedding. They had three children, Esther, Danny and Joe.
Maria worked for AT&T for many years. In 1983 she and John returned to Texas. Maria retired from her job in 2000.
Maria was a very loving and caring person. She loved her family fiercely and worked hard to provide for them. Spending time with her sisters was one of the greatest joys of her life. Her laughter filled a room.
As the oldest of the sisters, she took care of her younger siblings. Maria was an excellent cook and enjoyed crocheting scarves for her loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesus and Cecilia Romero; her husband, John Martinez; her daughter, Esther Perez; her sisters, Leonor Leyva, and Cecilia Molina; her brothers, Isabell, Joe, Robert, Jesus Jr., Manuel, and Luis Romero.
Maria is survived by her son, Daniel, wife, Cynthia and their four children; her son, Joseph, wife, Lucy and their three children; Esther’s daughters, Sandra, Krystal and Alexandra; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her family would like to thank the staff of UT Southwest for their kind and compassionate care of Maria in her final days.
