Marian Malinda Gower, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully July 22, 2025, at the age of 94.
Born in Quincy, Illinois on November 8, 1930, to Gilbert and Malinda Wismann, Marian grew up with a strong sense of faith, family and joy - values that guided her throughout her life. A devout Catholic, she lived her beliefs with quiet strength and grace, offering kindness, compassion, and prayers to those around her.
Marian married her husband, Bob Gower, December 27, 1951. Together they raised 6 children: Patrick (Kathy) Gower, Nancy Barbarito, Deborah (Jim) Light, Marcia Gower, Jeanne (Pete) Amsden, and Robert (Peggy) Gower. Her legacy continues through her children, 12 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.
Known for her quick wit and warm laughter, Marian had a joyful spirit that lifted the hearts of everyone she met. She found joy in simple things - especially her needlework, which she crafted with patience and love. But her greatest joy came from her laughter filled time with family.
Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Gower, her parents, Gilbert and Malinda Wismann, a brother, Lawrence Wismann; and four sisters; Jeanette Winston, Alice Druffel, Helen Beatty, and Dolores Grawe.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to, The Society of St. Vincent DePaul.
Visitation for Marian will take place from 9:00-9:45 followed by Mass at Immaculate Conception of Dardenne on August 22, 2025, at 10:00 am. Inurnment will follow.
