Marie Antoinette Kanofsky, age 84, of Midlothian, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Beloved wife of Lawrence "Larry" Kanofsky, Marie and Larry were united in marriage on September 8, 1962, at St. Augustine Church in Chicago, Illinois-a union that became the heart of a close-knit and loving family.
Marie was the cherished mother of Kevin (Bonnie) Kanofsky, Lisa Dasch, Michele Kanofsky, Christopher (Marie) Kanofsky, Peggy (Chris) Zielinski, and Jeanette (Jason) Rabideau. She was a proud grandmother to Andrew (Destiny) King, Christopher (Jennifer) King, CJ Kanofsky, Taylor (Kyle) Shroyer, Nathan (Bethany) Zielinski, Zoe Rabideau, and Abby Rabideau; and a doting great-grandmother to Brendan, Elijah, Elaina, Isaac, and Theo.
Marie was our matriarch-the foundation and anchor of our family. She will always be lovingly remembered as being quite clever, extremely creative, forever welcoming, and having an incredible sense of humor. Her warmth and strength were a constant source of comfort and guidance.
She found joy in tending to her garden, caring for animals, creating delicious home-cooked meals, and baking her famous Christmas cookies. She also loved crocheting baby blankets for loved ones and challenging herself with word puzzles.
Her loving presence and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 1:00 PM until the time of the Memorial Service at 3:00 PM at Hickey Memorial Chapel, 4201 W. 147th St., Midlothian, IL 60445.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
