With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, Marie Kelly, 76 of Baird passed away June 12, 2025 at Avir at Abilene nursing home in Abilene. She was born December 21, 1948 in Wills Point to Billy Jack Wilson and Jane Horton Wilson.
Marie graduated Eastland High School. She was a hairdresser for 12 years and a clerk at the 11th Court of Appeals in Eastland for 33 years.
In addition to her parents she was preceeded in death by her husband of 39 years, Foy Dean Kelly, brother Steve Wilson, sister Sharon Duncan and step daughter Tracy Gilley.
She is survived by her daughter Michelle and husband Randy Adamez of Trent; three grandchildren Cody Adamez and wife Crystal, Ashley and husband Jared Huff, Keifer Adamez and wife Bekah and eight great grandchildren.
Step daughters Deana and husband Kevin Ebeling of Abilene, Christie Kelly, Angie Kelly, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Sister-in-law Ellen Duncan, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marie was a quiet, steady presence in the lives of all who knew her. She was not one for many words. But when she spoke, her words carried weight, kindness and wisdom. She found peace in the open skies and quiet strength in her days spent working outside, whether it was doing yard work and mowing or going with her family to theme parks and water parks.
1 Thessalonians 4:11 - Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, mind your own business and work with your hands.
She was a woman of few indulgences, but enjoyed iced tea and country music.
As a mom she passed down some great values, a straight moral compass, the importance of hard work, and to always speak kindly of others. She was a true Fruit of the Spirit.
Galatians 5:22-23 - Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness & Self Control.
A graveside memorial will be held Monday, June 16, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Ross Cemetery Annex in Baird, with Pastor Clyde Kieschnick of Zion Lutheran Church officiating.
