Marilyn James Obituary

Marilyn Elaine James passed away on the 1st day of January 2025 after a long battle with cancer. She was born on the 19th day of August 1951, the youngest daughter of Lawrence Edward and Safronia "Frone" Frailey James of rural Sharp County on Fire Tower Rd.
Marilyn achieved a Specialist Degree with many hours toward her Doctorate in Early Childhood Education. She taught kindergarten for 38 years in the Cave City School District. Every new school year she was overjoyed with a fresh group of students. She loved her students as if they were her own children. She was a caring teacher who went above and beyond for all the children who passed through her classroom door.
Marilyn has been an active member in the Arkansas Retired Teacher Association and a long time member of the Timely Club. Marilyn was a lifetime member of the Spring River Baptist Church. She taught countless years of Sunday school and Vacation Bible School classes. In the summer she would also volunteer as a cabin counselor for church camp along with teaching a class there as well. Her giving heart knew no bounds. She has been a financial supporter of many charities and the church throughout the years. She felt like the Lord has blessed her with financial prosperity so she gave back generously.
Survivors include her sisters Carolyn Horrell of Highland, AR. and Loretta (George) Barton of Millington, TN. 7 nieces and nephews, 7 great nieces and nephews and 8 great great nephews and 2 nieces on the way. A very important friend for over 30 years Doug Marriott and his family. Many cousins and friends. Preceded in death are her parents and 2 brothers Carson and Jessie James. Celebration of life service for Marilyn Elaine James beginning Friday, January 10th, 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Wortham Funeral Home. Funeral planned for Saturday, January 11th beginning at 11:00 A.M. at Spring River Baptist Church north of Hardy, with burial to follow in the Bronaugh Cemetery next to the church.
