Marilyn A. Wright, 89, of Stowe passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025 with a friend at her side after a short stay at UVMMC and Copley Hospital. Many of Marilyn's family members and friends were praying for her during her final days and hours. She was visited by four priests who offered comfort, prayer, and the Church's Sacraments. She very greatly appreciated everyone's help, prayers, calls, and visits.

Marilyn was born in Lorain, OH and grew up in Shaker Heights. She attended Duke University and graduated from Columbia University and Bank Street College of Education in New York. She was a life-long learner, who enjoyed work as a nursery-school teacher and pediatric therapist. She also worked and volunteered in organizations that worked to help protect natural resources and the beauty of the outdoors. She was a volunteer ski teacher for several years. Marilyn traveled extensively to England, Italy, and Turkey.

Marilyn moved to Vermont in 1975 and enjoyed designing and building a home in her new community. In that home, she loved spending most of her time reading, painting, gardening, and in prayer. She found life in Vermont to be a very spiritually renewing experience. She was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Church and later the St. Philip Neri Latin Mass Chaplaincy. She also attended daily Mass at nearby parishes and made friends in each community. Marilyn studied Catholic doctrine and spirituality extensively-reading spiritual classics, listening to recordings on the saints, watching Catholic television, attending classes, and more. She loved nothing more than discussing the Faith over coffee or a meal, or in a phone call. Marilyn made two pilgrimages to Ephesus, Turkey to the House of the Virgin Mary.

Marilyn is pre-deceased by her parents Cletus and Mae (Hunter) Wright, her sisters Geraldine Flynn and Joanne Hoge. She is survived by her sister Carol Andrews, with whom she shared a very special bond, her brother John Wright, and several nieces and nephews.

A traditional Latin Requiem funeral Mass will be celebrated Sunday August 3, 2025 at 1 p.m. at St. Anthony's Church in Burlington. A reception will follow at St. Catherine of Siena Parish Hall. Burial will be in Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Bishop's Annual Appeal, (designated for Catholic media), Roman Catholic Diocese of Burlington, 55 Joy Drive, South Burlington, VT 05403.
