Marilynn Bird Obituary

Marilynn M. Bird, 91, of Fowler, IN passed away on July 6, 2025, at University Place in West Lafayette, IN. She was born in Wabash County on Aug. 21, 1933, to the late Paul & Ruby Hoch.

Marilynn was a graduate of La Fontaine High School, class of 1951. Prior to marriage she worked for the Wabash County Extension Office. She was married to William L. Bird on Dec. 24, 1955 in Lincolnville, IN. Marilynn was a secretary at Purdue University as well as the G & G Agency in Fowler.

Marilynn was a devoted member of the Fowler United Methodist Church for an impressive 70 years and a member of Tri-Kappa. Her church was significant to her, and she actively participated in the arranging the "Lunch Bunch" group, which was greatly enjoyed by the members. Marilynn found profound joy in the simplicity of life, particularly in her love for the country and engaging in various DIY projects like painting and basketry. Her great sense of humor was a defining trait, bringing laughter and joy to family gatherings and friendships. Above all, Marilynn's greatest joy was her family, with whom she shared a deep and abiding love.

Marilynn is survived by her daughter Carol Grady (Allen) of Lafayette; Sons James Bird (Debra) of Noblesville, and Tim Bird (Geralyn) of Fowler; grandchildren, Meghan Serrano (Andrew), Cassandra Hiday (David), Kara Stacy (Chase) and Kyle Bird; great-grandkids Matt & Mark Hiday; Remi, Halle & Cameron Stacy; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband William L. Bird; sister Donna Miller; brother Ed Hoch.

Visitation will be held on July 14, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM EST. Services will take place at Fowler United Methodist Church in Fowler, IN with the burial at Fowler Cemetery. Those desiring may contribute in memory of Marilynn to the Fowler United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Association. Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home is honored to serve the Bird family.
