Marion Maurice "Joe" Hart, 75, left this earth on the afternoon of July 11, 2025. Joe was at home in Canton MS surrounded by family and friends on his departure. He fought a hard battle with dementia that didn't defeat him but his body did succumb to the disease.
Joe was born in Greenville MS on August 21, 1949, to the late James Maurice Hart and Jimmie Sizemore Hart. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1967 and from there his life took him to Starkville, MS. to play football at Mississippi State University 1967-1970.
After college Joe spent 22 decorated years in law enforcement that spanned the state of MS and wrapped up his career in Madison MS. His dedication to the law enforcement community was a labor of love and gave it his all.
For the past 17 years Joe has spent the best years of his life with his wife Stacy Hart. They made their home in Canton for the last 19 years. They loved time traveling, working around their home and surrounding themselves with their great friends. Joe could pretty much do anything he set his mind to using his hands to fix and build almost anything.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Stacy Sweeney Hart; his son Spencer Maxwell of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; two grandchildren: Will Hart and Hunter Hart and three great grand children: Spencer Lee, Maxwell and Hazel.Joe was preceded in death by his parents, brother (Carlton) and son (Lee).
Services will be held at Breeland Funeral Home in Canton, MS on Wednesday July 16, 2025, visitation at 1p.m. and service following at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the MIND Center at UMMC or Alzheimer's Association of Mississippi.
