Obituary published on Legacy.com by Seydler-Hill Funeral Home - Gonzales from Jul. 22 to Jul. 23, 2025.
Marissa Seles Rosas, 32, was born on a freezing cold morning of February 2, 1993, at San Antonio University Hospital. She was born with Spina Bifida, and from birth she was given a short-term life span by her doctors. But if you knew Marissa, you knew she was a fighter and she overcame many odds against her time and time again. In her uncle Jimmy's words, Marissa lived life on her own terms, and she was going out on her own terms.
On November 20, 2024, she was sent home on hospice and again given only 7-10 days survival. However, Marissa chose to fight and stayed with us for exactly 8 more months. She used that time to make peace with everyone, with herself, and with the Lord Jesus Christ. She prayed and told Him that she was very ready to go. Asked his forgiveness for any offenses and to be received into His arms. He answered her prayer, and she passed peacefully in her sleep on Sunday morning, July 20, 2025. We can only imagine her excitement at getting to use her legs for the first time, to run into the arms of her Savior in heaven.
Marissa went through many stages in life. From being a little daisy in Girl Scouts, to a member of the Pep Squad in Jr. High School. She enjoyed growing up as a member in her church, Templo Bethel Pentecostes, singing her heart out as a little girl, and taking part in many programs as a youth.
Thank you to all who were a part of her life's journey. We have been hearing many stories from family, friends, classmates, teachers, etc. Some are so funny, some are so sad, but they all have one thing in common; Marissa was an inspiration, an encourager, and a good person. She truly cared deeply about people. Especially her little brother and sister, who because of a 15 and 18 year age gap, were more like her own children than siblings. They are what made her heart happiest no matter what circumstances she was in. She had a special saying for her brother, that she loved him to the moon and back and all around the world. She was always very proud of him and his sister.
Marissa also made it a point for her mom and her stepdad to know that they were her place of love, safety and comfort. She loved them more than she could ever let them know.
Marissa wanted to express her gratitude and appreciation to the staff of the Gonzales Public Library, who over the years always made her feel welcomed to hang out there for hours on end. Also, to the workers past and present at Golden Chick who allowed her to hang out and always gave her an extra tender or two. Special mention to other favorite hangouts of hers, Matamoros Taco Hut, Gonzales Food Market, Mi Lupita's, and DQ. And to so many who she knew and some she didn't, who kindly helped her maker her way home when her wheelchair battery went out somewhere in town.
Thank you to the Gonzales Community, she felt that love. Thank you to the countless ministries who over the years have supported and carried us in prayers. A special message for her biological father, "Gallo". Last and final call for Sweetie Pie. Sweetie Pie had a heart for the trucker community, she says she'll keep on truckin' on them streets of gold.
Last but not least, thank you to the wonderful team at Guadalupe Regional Hospice for the care they provided during the final months, we couldn't have asked for a more loving and supportive team.
Marissa touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed.
