Mark Cave, age 63, of York died Saturday morning, February 1, 2025 at St. Joseph Villa in David City.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2025 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Silver Creek. Family will receive friends 9:00 a.m. with a 9:30 Rosary prayer Friday, February 7, all at the Church.
At the request of family, please wear your favorite Husker clothing.
Mark Edward Cave was born August 12, 1961, to John and Elizabeth (Boro) Cave at Saint Mary's Hospital in Columbus. He was welcomed home by three older brothers and two older sisters. Mark was baptized at Saint Lawrence Catholic Church.
At age 2 1/2 mark was placed in Beatrice State Home for the intellectually disabled. While at Beatrice he received his first Holy Communion and many visits from his parents and 11 siblings. Mark also lived in Grand Island and Aurora in group homes before returning to Beatrice State Home. Mark moved to his final home in York, NE in May of 2021 with Region V Services (APACE).
In January of 2023 a loving couple Melanie and Jerimy Clift became his sole care givers and beloved extended family.
Mark loved all things Huskers, New Orleans Saints, Kansas City Chiefs (by default) he loved hot dogs, pizza, pop- Pepsi in particular and Burger King. Mark loved to hang around the little kids and give them hugs at family gatherings. He enjoyed Melanie's two grandchildren, Oakley and Beau- his little buddies who visited him often.
Mark's last year was filled with going to see the Salt Dogs, horse racing and a big trip to Florida. Mark was able to see Graceland and at Saint Augustine he enjoyed the highlight of the trip, a boat ride. Mark also enjoyed swimming in the ocean for the first time while in Florida.

Brother: Scott Cave of Columbus
Sister: Catherine (Jerry) English of Springfield, MO
Brother: John David Cave of Omaha
Sister: Lisa (Gary) Hoadley of Platte Center
Sister: Julie (Brad) Wiebe of Norfolk
Sister: Denise (Shane) Kinkaid of Laurel
Brother: Charles Cave of Silver Creek
Sister: Vicki (Jeff) Bermel of Randolph
And 76 nieces and nephews
