Mark Jones Obituary

Mark Kevin Jones, Sr. was born August 21, 1961, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Allen Jones and Alma S. Jones. He departed this life on March 13, 2025, at his home in Cairo, Illinois. Mark met and married his wife, Irene Jones, on October 7, 1987, to this union nine children were born.
Life was simple for Mark. He received his GED from Cooley High School in Detroit, Michigan. He worked as a machine operator, however, known as a jack of all trades. Mark was a loving and protective husband, father and grandfather. He attended all events, rather it was a sports game, graduation, holiday, or just spending quality time with his loved ones. He would show up and all would know that he was there, as he had the greatest personality and booming voice. Mark was stern but caring, an avid jokester, who will be missed dearly.
Mark is preceded in death by his father, Allen Jones; mother, Alma S. Jones; brother, Miles Keith Jones; grandson, Markel Jones; and two granddaughters, De'Auni and Ke'Mori Jones.
Mark leaves behind, his wife Irene Jones; sister, Monica Jones; his eleven children: Kelvin Houston, Alma Jones (Rickey), Monica Jones (Vance), Kenyata Jones, Michal'le Jones, Mark Jones Jr., De'Angelo Jones (Zaria), De'Ante Jones, Mar'Quan Jones, NaTasha Jones, and Dejuan Brown; 34 grandkids, or as Mark would say "a slew" of grandkids and everyone in that knew him as "Pops" to cherish his memories.
Services for Mark Jones, Sr. will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Massie Funeral Home in Mounds, Illinois at 2:00 pm with Bishop Bennie Pruitt, officiating. Visitation will be Saturday at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until the funeral hour at 2:00 pm. Cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral ceremony.
