Mr. Mark Isaac Smith, 59, of Summit, MS, departed this earthly life on July 8, 2025, at Southwest Regional Medical Center in McComb, MS.
2:00pm-8:00pm visitation Friday, July 18, 2025, at Peoples Undertaking Co., Life's Reflections 6:00pm-8:00pm. Visitation continues 9:00am-11:00am. Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Pleasant Grove East McComb Baptist Church service following at 11:00am, Rev. Karl Hampton officiating. internment following in The Garner Family Cemetery in Jayess, MS.
Isaac was born on September 4, 1965, in Pike County to Catherine Dillon and Jerome Smith, Sr.
Isaac was employed as a brick mason, butcher, and lawn care worker-basically a jack-of-all-trades-but he was mostly known for the work he did as the 'Undertaker." He began working in the funeral industry on September 10, 1978, at the age of 13. He had his start at Washington Funeral Home in Tylertown, MS, then he began working at Ginn Funeral Home in Tylertown. Over his 46-year career in the funeral industry, he has worked with Catchings Funeral Home and Jones Funeral Home, both in McComb, MS; White Funeral Home in Lumberton, MS; Natchez Trace Funeral Home in Madison; Youngs Funeral Home of Summit, MS; Craft-Dillon Ginn in Tylertown, MS; Cooks Enterprise Funeral Home; Craft-Dillon Funeral Home; and Peoples Undertaking Co., all of McComb, MS.
Isaac decided to step out on faith and began his own transport business, Smith Transport and Removal, where he served Pike, Walthall, Amite, and surrounding areas by assisting the Pike County and Amite County coroner's offices.
In the 90s he met and married Tessa Lewis, and to this union 3 daughters were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Edward Earl Smith, Jerome Smith Jr., and Alvin Carter; and one sister, Dorothy Smith.
He leaves to cherish his fondest memories: his 3 daughters, I'Zyana "Shugg" Smith, Alyssa Smith, and Marissa Smith; an adopted daughter, Tanisha Wilson, and her 3 children, MyKenlii Williams, Ky'Amrynn, and Tairyn Wilson; 3 sisters, Mary Alice Thomas, Zaddie (L.C.) Alford, and Norma Cook; and 5 brothers, Clyde C. "Pop" Smith, Charles (Bernice) Smith, Gary Smith, Timothy (Debra) Smith, and Michael Carter. one sister-in-law, Barbara Smith; one aunt, Loretta Bryant; his godparents, Harry and Gloria Conerly; his dearest friends, Gyrtis James, Heather Mire, and Scote Renfro; and a host of nieces, nephews, coworkers, family members, and friends.
