Marlene J. Fischer, 70, of Marinette passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at home surrounded by her family. She was born on January 5, 1955, to the late Barney and Irene (Holland) Bakke in Marinette. She graduated from Marinette High School. She worked as a cook in various restaurants in the area and also as a CNA. On July 17, 1992, Marlene married Anthony "Tony" Fischer; he preceded her in death on January 12, 2016. She enjoyed dancing, gardening, doing her make up and socializing with friends and family. She had a wise ear to listen and had the ability to feed the soul not just the body, but her fried chicken and potato salad will be dearly missed. Marlene had the gift to make everyone feel included and loved. Kindness filled Marlene's heart, love filled her actions, whether family or friend these things you know. A warrior of Viking blood, a true Viking, an angel by nature & actions tougher than steel, sweeter than honey & blessed with an ability to cook beyond others. She laughed and danced with the best of them and dare I say out partied most sailors. There were many people fortunate enough to have known and loved her. They called her by many names: daughter, sister, auntie, cousin, wife, granny, some called her friend, we just called her mom. R.I.P. Mama.
Marlene is survived by her son, Shane Bakke of Marinette; daughters: Andrea Fischer of Neenah, Tesha Bakke of Marinette, and Abbie (Phil) Langohr of Neenah; eight grandchildren; brother, Tom Bakke of IL; sister, Marilyn (Cal) Hickey of AZ; sister in law, Florence Bakke of IL; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Amigo. In addition to her parents and husband, Tony, she was preceded in death by a brother, Loren Bakke.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Thielen Funeral Home is assisting the family.
