Marlene Louise (Niebrugge) Meyer, age 80
June 6, 1944 – January 22, 2025
Marlene Louise (Niebrugge) Meyer, age 80, of Dieterich, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 3:04 PM – Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at the Willow Breeze Hospice House in Mattoon, Illinois.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM – Monday, January 27, 2025, at Saint Aloysius Catholic Church in Bishop Creek (19182 1000th Avenue, Dieterich, Illinois), with Father John Titus celebrating mass. Internment will be in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Dieterich, Illinois. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 AM, at the church. In loving memory of Marlene, memorials may be made to Effingham Area Right to Life, PO Box 861, Effingham, Illinois, 62401. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois. The obituary can be viewed, and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com.
Marlene was born on June 6, 1944, in rural Effingham, the daughter of Leo and Regina (Rieman) Niebrugge. She married Gerald L. Meyer on November 28, 1969, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Neoga. He preceded her in death on October 16, 1983.
Marlene owned and managed the Meyer Family Farm south of Dieterich. She was a faithful member of the St Isidore the Farmer Parish and several prayer groups.
Marlene loved her Catholic Faith and was devoted to the rosary. For several years she prayed for the Adoration of the Holy Cross at 3 PM on Fridays, at Saint Anthony's Hospital Chapel. In her spare time, she used to enjoy quilting.
Marlene is survived by her children, James (Connie) Meyer of Teutopolis, Illinois; Alan (Stacey) Meyer of Effingham, Illinois; Carla (Jonathan) Will of Mattoon, Illinois; and Michael (Ashley) Meyer of Dieterich, Illinois; nine grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and sisters-in-law Marie (Don) Sandschafer of Teutopolis, Illinois; and Marie Meyer of Dieterich, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, infant grandson Anthony Ryan Meyer, sisters; Dorothy Niebrugge and Geraldine Stuckey, and brother James Niebrugge.
