Liturgy of the Word service for Marlene R. Rice, 87, of Dickinson, will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, July 22, 2025 with Rosary being said at 9:30 am at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with Deacon Ron Keller officiating. Burial will follow at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan.
Visitation for Marlene will be from 3 pm - 5 pm on Monday, July 21, 2025 at Stevenson Funeral Home.
Marlene passed away Thursday, July 10, 2025 at her home in Dickinson.
Marlene R. Anton was born March 11, 1938 in Dickinson, the daughter of George and Theresa (Pechtl) Anton. She grew up on the family farm near Lefor and graduated from Lefor High School in 1956. On June 12, 1958, Marlene was united in marriage to Herbert Rice at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Lefor. To this union one daughter, Diane was born. Marlene worked at Red Owl and Dan’s Supermarket for over 40 years, retiring in 2001.
Marlene was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, St. Anthony’s Club and St. Pius Club.
Marlene is survived by her husband, Herbert; sister, Caroline Hanson of Oregon; sister-in-law, June Anton of California; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Theresa Anton; daughter, Diane Hatzenbuehler; sisters, Anna (Simon) Walter, Marie (Hans) Jung; brother, George Anton; brother-in-law, Ankar Hanson and her grandparents.
