Marlene Summers went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 21, 2025, surrounded by her family at Johnson City Medical Center in Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Dosia Blair; son, Billy Womble; sisters, Loretta Orr, Nadine Woodward, and Irene Smith.
Marlene loved her husband, he was her world, she would take care of him with the proudest of honor. Marlene loved being with her family, making big pots of soup beans and cornbread, biscuits & gravy, playing Phase 10 and Uno were some of her favorite things to do with them. She tended a garden for many years at the home, where she grew anything she could, including a lot of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Hubert "Bud" Summers; Children, Darlene Richardson of Appalachia, Diane "Toby" (Roger) Trent of Big Stone Gap, Va., Robert (Denise) Womble of Texas, Rosemary (Ray) Smith of Parrish, AL.; Sisters, Shella (Bobby) Elliot of Big Stone Gap and Charlene Blair of Shepherdsville, Ky.; Grandchildren, B.J. (Brittany) Richardson, Makayla (Nick) Noah, Savana (Thomas) Carroll, Tammy (Cory) Johnson, Brandon (Sierra) Richardson, Amber (Dillon) Jenkins, Deonna "D.D." Fellows, Parker (Austin) Wood, Hannah Henry, Robert Womble Jr., Hunter Smith; Great-Grandchildren: Ebony, Marian, Angela, Kayden, Olivia, Lynlee, Carolina, Jaytlyn, Sam, Axl, Abel, Samara, Sadie, Brentley, Brylee, Arianna, Landon, Waylon, and honorary grandchild Kendra Garret; Special Friend Sheila Bledsoe.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 from 12 pm to 2 pm at Roy A. Green Funeral Home in Appalachia, VA. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Garrett Lee officiating. A procession will follow to Powell Valley Memorial Gardens for the committal.
