A funeral service for Marshall Alan Jolley, age 83, of Shelbyville, TN, will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Higgins Funeral Home with Pastor James Bender, Bro. Rodney Guinn, and Bro. Buddy Hambrick officiating. Burial will follow at McClure Cemetery. Visitation with the family will take place on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from 5 PM to 8 PM.
Marshall was born on November 18, 1941, in Elora, Lincoln County, TN to the late Alva Columbus "Alvie" Jolley and Vada Estelle Decker Jolley. Marshall was a third-generation logger with Jolley Logging and also served as a pastor for several congregations over the years. He was known for his willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need and his love of everyone, especially children and grandchildren. Marshall passed away June 30, 2025, at his home.
He is survived by his daughters; Phyllis Bennett and Wendy Gifford (Bruce); son, Jeremy Jolley (Becky); grandchildren, Tabitha (Jordan) Bennett, Alyssa Bennett, Kelsey (Brian) Oldfield, Phil Jolley, Kyle (Holly) Gifford, and Devin (Sara) Gifford; great-grandchildren Amelia, Dianah, and Isaac McGill, Sarah and Anna Oldfield, and Maverick, Annie, and Henry Gifford; sister, Linda Walker; special friend and caregiver, Brenda Gail Turner; as well as her sons, Bryan and David who looked at Marshall as a grandfather; and friend, Candace Rogers.
Marshall was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Barry Bennett; sisters, Ellen Pigg, Valda May Jolley, Joyce Steele, Jewell Edwards, and Irene Staggs. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Clinton Jolley and Arliss Jolley; and friend, Randall Turner.
