Martha Clementi Obituary

Martha Clementi, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend to many, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 23, 2025, at the age of 97 in Hollywood, FL.
Born on July 26, 1927, in Queens, New York, Martha grew up with a deep sense of family, resilience, and faith-values that shaped the remarkable life she would go on to lead. She married Angelo "Clem" Clementi in 1953 and moved to Syosset, NY, where she lived for over 60 years. Together they raised a family grounded in love and strong traditions. Clem preceded her in death on December 31, 1987, and their beloved son Steven Clementi passed away on December 5, 2017.
Martha is survived by her three children: Teresa (Clementi) DeCarlo and her husband Don DeCarlo, Diane (Clementi) Gainey and her husband Eric Gainey, and Thomas Clementi and his wife Rachel (Fernandez) Clementi. She was a devoted and proud grandmother to Cash and Kelly Clementi, and she treasured the time spent with them and the rest of her extended family.
After losing both her father and her husband at young ages, Martha persevered with quiet strength and enduring grace. She carried on not only for her family, but with them-instilling resilience, kindness, and an unwavering sense of purpose in those around her. Martha approached life with curiosity and joy. She loved to travel, and her adventures took her across the country and abroad-often with golf clubs in tow. An avid golfer well into her later years, she relished time on the course with friends and family. At home, she was rarely without knitting needles in hand, always crafting something warm and thoughtful for a loved one.
Equally devoted to her community, Martha gave generously of her time to numerous volunteer organizations over the decades, always eager to lend a helping hand or a compassionate ear. Her kindness and steady presence touched countless lives, and she was known for her compassion, quiet wisdom, and deep love for those around her.
Martha's life was a testament to the enduring power of faith, family, and service. She will be remembered with deep affection and admiration by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
As we celebrate her life, we carry forward her spirit-living with compassion, giving generously, and loving unconditionally.
A funeral mass to honor her life will be held on Tuesday, July 15th at 10:00 Am at Our Lady of Mercey in Hicksville, NY. All who knew and loved her are welcome to join us in celebrating her memory.
