Obituary of Martha Jane Mau
Martha Jane Mau (Moore) (May 5, 1929-December 10, 2021) Martha was born in Marshalltown, Iowa to William Jess and Madge Moore. Martha attended Iowa State University where she was active in the Pi Beta Phi sorority. While attending Iowa State, Martha met Jack Mau and they later married. Jack and Martha lived for many years in La Porte City, Iowa where Jack practiced veterinary medicine and the family grew to eight with the addition of six children. In 1972, the family relocated to Minnetonka, Minnesota where Martha enjoyed familiarizing herself with the new metropolitan area and its cultural offerings. Martha pursued many interests including a partnership in an antique store, volunteering with Goodwill and traveling. Martha was known for a quick wit, her intellectual curiosity, and her love for a "happening" as she was fond of calling get togethers. Martha's love of conversation and companionship will be missed by her many friends and family. Martha was preceded in death by her husband Jack, sister Dorothy and brother James. She is survived by her children, Catherine, Thomas (Deb), John (Anna), Elizabeth, James (Cheryl), William (Jane); grandchildren, Laura, Stephanie, Emily, Eric, Ellen, Andrew, Julia and five great grandchildren A celebration of Martha's life will be held on January 14, 2022 from 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm with a brief remembrance at 3pm.
