Martin Herrera, a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, in Corpus Christi, Texas, at the age of 61. Born on August 29, 1963, in Mathis, Texas, Martin's life was a remarkable journey filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Known for his ever-present humor and infectious laughter, Martin had a unique way of brightening any room he entered. His personality was characterized by an unwavering spirit that could lift the dampest of days, reminding all who knew him that life is to be enjoyed. Martin's ability to joke and spread joy was as much a part of him as his love for cooking and dancing. He possessed a natural gift for DJing, blending music and rhythm that would encourage friends and family to come together on the dance floor, sharing moments that will now be bittersweet memories.
A man of many passions, Martin found serenity in fishing, often sharing tales of his adventures on the water. His beloved motorcycle, a symbol of his adventurous spirit, provided him with joy as he rode under the expansive Texas skies. Each mile traveled on that bike represented not just freedom, but a zest for life that Martin embodied.
Martin leaves behind a vibrant family that held a special place in his heart. His mother, Elsa Gutierrez Herrera, alongside his children — daughters, Angelica (Jesus) Ynfante, Selina (George) Rodriguez, Bianca Herrera, Adriane Arizpe, and Desiree Torres (Eddie Pacheco), and son Cecilio Herrera — are left to carry forward the legacy of love and laughter that he was known for. Martin was also a proud grandfather to 13 grandchildren, each of whom filled his heart with immeasurable joy.
Martin shared his life with his siblings Rebecca Riojas, Rosalinda Herrera, and Daniel Herrera, and he will be remembered fondly by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whose lives he touched in ways that will resonate long after his passing.
Martin is reunited with his father, Francisco Zapata Herrera, and his maternal and paternal grandparents, Bruno and Julia Gutierrez and Delfino and Virginia Herrera. Though he is no longer with us, Martin Herrera's spirit will continue to shine through the laughter of his loved ones and the beautiful memories they hold dear. His legacy is one of resilience, joy, and love—the very essence of the man who will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
Visitation will be held from 2 PM until 9 PM on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Winsteads' Funeral Home, where a Holy Rosary will be recited that same evening at 7 PM.
