It has pleased Almighty God on July 4th 2025 to call into His presence Martin Lee Koopmann, Sr., 76, who, baptized in the name of the Triune God, trusted in Christ, whose tears are gone and whose sorrows have been turned into joy. We pray that God will comfort those who mourn his death with the sure and certain hope of the resurrection of the dead.

Martin Lee Koopmann, Sr. was born on September 8th 1948, in Galveston, Texas to Werner John and Louise (Tschatschula) Koopmann. He was baptized on 11-21-1948, at St John's Lutheran Church by Rev. A.C. Diers in Galveston, Texas. On 4-7-1963 he was confirmed in the Christian faith in La Grange, Texas at Zion Lutheran Church by Rev. T.H. Graalmann.

Martin graduated from La Grange High School May, 1967. He received an Associate of Arts Degree from Blinn College in Brenham in June, 1969. On May 15, 1971 he received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. Martin worked for the State Board of Insurance in Austin, Texas for 30 years, retiring on June 24, 2002.

During his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, going to Galveston, gambling at casinos, playing dominoes and rummikub with his wife and family. He also liked spending time with his remaining cousins: Pam Matula, Lori Floyd, and Gary Martorell, as well as celebrating with the birthday groups. Most of all he recently loved spending time with his great-grandson Sterling Martin Moore. Born October 4th, 2024. They would play for hours. You couldn't get Sterling away from him, if you tried.
