Martina Guajardo Obituary

GUAJARDO Martina Guajardo, age 92, entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 1, 2025, in a nursing home in Alice, Texas. She was born on November 11, 1932, in Alice, Texas, to her parents, Patricio and Susana Garcia. A proud graduate of Freer High School, Class of 1953, Martina graduated with honors and was an active member of several school organizations, including the National Honor Society, Library Club, Senior Play, FHA, and Pep Squad. In 1954, she married the love of her life, Reynaldo Guajardo, with whom she shared 43 years of loving marriage. Martina held several jobs throughout her life, working at Jimson Clothing Store, Western Auto, Freer Drug Store, and Brush Country Bank. She also served as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Spohn Alice and later at Hospitality House. Martina was perhaps best known in the community as the co-owner of the Country West Palace, which she and her husband operated for over 24 years. She will be remembered most for her deep love of family, her joy in cooking for her loved ones, and her generous spirit. Martina was a devoted wife, beloved mother, cherished grandmother, caring sister, and loyal friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43, years of marriage, Reynaldo Guajardo; her parents, Patricio and Susana Garcia; two daughters, Diana Olga Guajardo and Esmeralda Castillo; two sisters, Patricia Urbina and Zulema Villanueva; one brother, Daniel Cantu. Martina is survived by her two daughters, Alicia Lina (Jose) Cantu of Freer, Texas and Carol (Moe) Guajardo Hill of Alice, Texas; her sister, Lily Garza; seven grandchildren, Jose Reynaldo ( Erica) Cantu, Alberto Ramiro (Diana) Cantu, Saul (Tanya) Castillo, Sergio Castillo, Stephen (Sabrina) Castillo, Leah (Blake) Huber and Deon Hill; nine great grandchildren, Davian Castillo, Alana Castillo, Deegan Castillo, Damion Castillo, Sadie Castillo, Gage Castillo, Athena Castillo, Landon Huber and Gavin Huber; numerous nieces and nephews. . Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Garza Funeral Home in Freer, Texas with a Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. that morning with Brother Joe Carrales officiating.
