Martin "Marty" Foster, 82, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 14, 2025, at a local healthcare facility.
Marty was born on September 11, 1942, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Bernard and Mary Evelyn Foster. After High School graduation he received a Civil Engineering Degree from Drexel University in Philadelphia. He worked as a civil engineer in Pennsylvania and in 1986 moved to Chattanooga to work and he retired from TVA as a Structural & Civil engineer.
He lived a life marked by deep Catholic faith that he lived daily, and Marty was very devoted to his wife Janis. Marty was known for his warm heart, gentle spirit, and quick wit. Whether sharing a story, lending a helping hand, or offering a prayer. He was a man of kindness, compassion to others and devoted through his faith. Marty enjoyed writing, he published several books, playing handball, swimming and spending time with his dear Poodle Charlie. He will be deeply missed by all who have had the pleasure of knowing him. Marty is no longer in pain, and we be together again one day.
