Marvin Watson Dacus Sr., 81, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford (601 Commerce Parkway Oxford, MS, 38655). A memorial service will immediately follow on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford.

Marvin was born on December 19, 1943, in Little Rock, Arkansas. His parents were the late Chloe Weaver and Paul Melvin Dacus.

He was truly a one-of-a-kind man who touched the lives of everyone he met. Spoiled with love by his devoted wife, Mrs. Charlotte Dacus, Marvin enjoyed 58 wonderful years of marriage filled with laughter and cherished moments.

As a loving father and grandfather, Marvin was the cornerstone of his family, always taking delight in spending time with his children and grandchildren. He created lasting memories with them, offering unconditional love and support whenever they needed him.

In his younger days, Marvin's spirit thrived in the great outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing, always eager for the thrill that came from deer hunting, duck hunting, or bass fishing. His passion for nature and adventure brought him great joy, as did his love for a friendly game of golf or playing cards.

An accomplished high school athlete, Marvin's enthusiasm for sports carried through in his life; yet what defined him most was his remarkable ability to connect with others. He never met a stranger and had a unique gift for making everyone feel valued. Marvin was always the first to lend a hand, embodying a spirit of generosity that remained unwavering throughout his life.

Following his retirement he dedicated many years to Moore Brother's Auto Sales transporting vehicles. During those years he built lasting relationships he forever cherished.

As a member of St. Andrews Church of Oxford, Marvin found comfort and community within his faith. His passion for the outdoors extended into his involvement with Ducks Unlimited and Bass Masters, demonstrating his commitment to conservation and shared love for the natural world.

Marvin leaves behind a profound legacy of kindness, compassion, and love. His presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his daughter, Paula Childress (Ricky) of Oxford, MS; his son, Marty Dacus of Lincolnton, NC; his granddaughter, Chloe Childress of Oxford; his grandson, Barrett Childress of San Antonio, TX; his sister, Chloe Dacus of Pawtucket, RI; his brother, Bobby Dacus of Henderson, TN; his two sister-in-laws, Bobbie Hester (Lynn) of Marion, AR, and Susan Lambert of Booneville, MS; his niece, Tammy Forrester (John) of Nesbit, MS; and his two nephews, Chris Hester (Kim) of Coldwater, MS, and Bryson Lambert of Booneville.

Marvin is preceded in death by his loving wife, Charlotte Dacus; his parents, Paul Melvin and Chloe Weaver Dacus; his sister, Clara Kelley; and his brother-in-law, Johnny Lambert.
