Marvin James Ross of Pleasanton passed away in San Antonio on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. He was born on Tuesday, October 15, 1940 to Martin J. and Margaret (Nelson) Ross.
Marvin Ross was a hardworking and proud man who built a life centered on family, tradition and dedication. Owner of a successful electrical company "Oak Island Electric", his son Mark also worked alongside of him in the family business. His reputation for honesty, skill, and reliability made him a trusted name in the community.
Marvin was a man of many passions. He was an avid outdoorsman who looked forward to his annual hunting trips to Utah with his son, which became the source of many legendary stories. Every summer, he cherished family vacations to Port Aransas.
A lifelong farmer at heart, Marvin maintained a large garden and taught his children the value of hard work and living off the land. The family raised pigs, cattle, and chickens, and learned the satisfaction that came from working with their hands.
He was a devoted father to six children-five daughters and one son-and took great pride in watching over them. He also loved a good game of poker, often gathering with friends and family around the dining room table.
Marvin will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his loyalty, his adventurous spirit, and the deep love he had for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and the importance of tradition.
Marvin is survived by his wife of almost 67 years, Juanita Joyce Ross; children, Laurie Ross, Mark Ross and wife Brenda, Becky Dunsirn and husband Eddie, Mona Ross, Maggie Stobbs, Lillie Spates and husband John; and grandchildren, Randy Kosler, Kimberly Kosler, Marty Ross and wife Lynisa, Matthew Ross and wife Corrie, Cody Lawson, Hunter Dunsirn and wife Amanda, Jessica Joyner, Joshua Stuart, Jeffrey Stuart, Colton Stobbs, Dillon Stobbs and wife Kara, Brittany Berdeaux and husband Quinton, and Ben Spates.. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Leila, Monty, Rowdy, Aron, Jenny, Kaydin, Maddie, Finley, Lilliana and Olivia.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Ross; sister, Carol Johns, granddaughter, Callie Spates; and son-in-law, Dwayne Stobbs.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, at Hurley Funeral Home from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm with a celebration of life to be held at 7:00 pm.
