Mary E. Ball, age 92, of Franklin, Il. died Tuesday (March 4, 2025) at Scott County Nursing Center.
She was born July 30, 1932 in Scottville, Il. daughter of the late Gaylon and Ada Fairburn Seymour.
She married Gerald W. Ball on September 15, 1951 in Jacksonville, Il. and he preceded her in death on December 8, 2012.
Surviving are three daughters, Eva Sieving of Jacksonville, Il., Gwendolyn J. Ball of Franklin, Il., Karen Woods and husband Tim of Winchester, Il.; two sons, Gerald Ball, Jr. of Modesto, Il., and Gordon Ball of Loami, Il.; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her parents; husband; one son Bradley Ball; and siblings, Irene Dowland, Virginia Jones, Walter Seymour, Betty Butler, and Margaret Pierson.
Mary was in the first graduating class of Northwestern High School in Palmyra, Il. Mary was a longtime volunteer at Passavant Area Hospital. She loved to tap dance and was a member of the Passavant Tappers performing at the Passavant Follies. She also was a member of the Sunshine Singers in Jacksonville, Il. She also enjoyed collecting antique dolls.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday (March 12, 2025) at Franklin Cemetery in Franklin, Il. Memorials may be made to Scott County Nursing Center Activity Fund and sent to Neece-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home, 349 E. Tanner, Waverly, Il. 62692.
