Mary Batts Obituary

WILMINGTON - Mary Ellen Harrington Batts, 65, of Wilmington, NC went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Tuesday, August 6, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at the Holly Ridge Church of God, 1011 East Ocean Highway, Holly Ridge.
Mary Ellen was born on February 18, 1959 to Charles and Audrey (Strong) Harrington in Wilmington, NC. As a young girl, she loved riding horses on her granddad's (Pop) farm. She was married to her high school sweetheart of 48 years, Johnny Batts, raised three wonderful children, Jeremiah Batts (Erin), Jennifer Pierce (Michael), and Aaron Batts (Shannon), and seven grandsons, Keegan (Cristiana), Evan, Jacob, John Cole, Eli, Jaxton and Mack.
Mary loved to learn. She studied real estate, cosmetology, and pursued a business degree, all of which she put to use as the owner of her own salon, the Kutting Kottage.
Throughout her life, Mary loved music and the people around her. She delighted in her family's gospel singing and making up songs for her grandchildren. Her love for others contributed greatly to her success as a business owner and her work with the elderly.
More than anything, Mary had a strong faith and devotion to both God and her family. She was a firm believer in prayer and on many occasions you could find her praying over her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father; mother; and sister, Elizabeth Harrington Smith.
In addition to her husband, children and grandchildren, she is survived by her brother, Charles Harrington and his wife, Mary.
The family will revive friends Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 6 - 8 PM at Jones Funeral Home, Holly Ridge Chapel.
