Mary Frances Blackburn (née Cieri), age 66, of Westminster, passed away on March 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on March 3, 1959, in Baltimore, Mary was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph Harry Cieri and Emma Frances Cieri (née Jewer). She was the beloved wife of George Brian Blackburn, with whom she shared 40 wonderful years of marriage and 47 years together. She was the devoted and loving mother to Jacob Lee Blackburn who preceded her in death, and Emilee Violet Naumann (née Blackburn) and her husband Jamie, and her grandchildren, Cruz Jacob (6), Luca George (3), and Knox James (4 months).
Mary Frances dedicated her life to serving her family and working as a nurse. After starting her career as an LPN, she earned her RN in 2003 and her BSN in 2009. Mary worked as a nurse for 42 years, starting as a private duty nurse before embarking on a distinguished 28-year career at Johns Hopkins.
Mary was an enthusiastic gardener, a talented cook, and an avid reader. She also loved shopping and visiting the beach. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as tending to her garden, experimenting with new recipes, and spending time with her family and friends. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she loved nothing more than being with them and watching them grow.
Her family and friends remember her fondly for her warm heart and infectious laugh. "Mary Frances was the kind of person who made everyone feel like family," said her sister, Melody. "Her kindness and generosity knew no bounds."
She is also survived by her brothers, Joseph John Cieri and his wife Linda Marie (née Orr), and John James Cieri; her sister, Melody Cecelia Higgins (née Cieri) and her husband Donald Wayne; and several nieces and nephews, including Jennifer Sunshine Jushchuk (née Cieri) and her husband Richard Christopher, Clara Ruth Meier (née Cieri), Christina Lynn Karabatsos (née Cieri) and her husband Zach Mordecai, John Michael Cieri, Elizabeth Ann Veglia (née Cieri), Eric Vincent Cieri, and Nicholas Joseph Higgins; as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews, Jude Vincent Veglia, Skylar Reign Jushchuk, Greyson Patrick Allen Meier, and Ruthanne Margaret Emma Meier. To the family of Mary Blackburn,
Please accept my condolences on your tremendous loss. I cannot imagine the emptiness that Mary´s passing has left in all of your hearts. Mary was am extraordinary lady, as I am sure that no one knows more so than each of you.
Mary, my MTS office mate. How lucky was I to share an office with you! Your infectious joyful laugh, the way your eyes twinkled when you smiled, and that singular "Mary skill" you had of making everyone feel like they were wrapped in love and warm acceptance. I always felt somehow safe and taken care of when you just simply walked in the room. You had that nurturing quality in spades. It´s no wonder that you were a loving, capable, caring, and effective nurse.
I know how much you loved your family. I will forever remember you answering your cell phone, "Hi Porge" or "Hi `Em" or "Hi Jake." No matter what was happening in the office, her whole affect changed to joyful at the sound of your voices. I know that she was over the moon about her grandbabies. They were everything to her.
I learned a lot from you, Mary and feel grateful to have shared the time together that we did. See you on the other side.
Rest Well.

Dearest Mary,

I hope you know how much you were loved by everyone at M.T.S. I always thought of you as more than a colleague, but my friend. My heart is broken at the reality that you´re gone. I will always feel blessed to have known you, if only for a little while. You will be forever missed. Sleep well and be at peace.
