A celebration of life service for Mary Joyce Boatwright, 88, of Owens Crossroads, will be at 12 p.m., Friday, July 11, 2025, at Cullman Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Welti Presbyterian Cemetery, Pastor Daniel Drake officiating. The family will receive friends from 11am-12pm before the service.
Cullman Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
Ms. Boatwright was born on September 8, 1936, to parents, Elbert and Ruby White Boatright. Mary Joyce Boatright, lovingly called MoMo by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, was a kind and loving woman of God. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother and friend. She read the Bible almost every day and had read the Bible through numerous times throughout her life. She shared Jesus everywhere she went and would often give away Bibles at hospitals and to those in need. Her sole aim in life was to tell others about Jesus. Well done, good and faithful servant.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Survivors include her daughter, Terri (Rex) Gillis; sons, Randy (Debbie) Drake and Chris Drake; grandchildren, Amy (Matt) Gillis Bogue, Joshua (Alyssa) Gillis, Brooke (Caleb) Gillis Hughes, William (Maria) Drake, Daniel (Danielle) Drake, Janie (Kevin) Drake Johnson; great-grandchildren, Bryson Bogue, Brooklyn Bogue, Bennett Bogue, Everly Gillis, Piper Gillis, Mary Claire Gillis, Shiloh Hughes, Zion Hughes, Eden Hughes, Shep Hughes, Emeth Drake, Eliana Drake, Aliza Drake, Titus Drake, Piper Drake, Marlowe Johnson, Owen Johnson, Lily Johnson, Penny Johnson; and a host of family and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to Reaching and Teaching International Ministries, 828 East Market Street Louisville, KY 40206. If donating by check please include 'MENA Will & Maria' on the memo line.
