Mary was a data systems analyst project manager for Freddie Mac. Her keen analytical skills and attention to detail made her an invaluable asset to her team.
On January 17, 1964, Mary was married to Bruce Boughton. They were blessed with two children, Douglas Boughton of Front Royal, VA, and Barbara McGowan of Bryantown, MD.
After retiring in 2007, Mary devoted her leisure time to reading, enjoying golf, and observing birds. She was an enthusiastic Redskins fan, took pleasure in solving puzzles, and frequently watched Fox News. Additionally, she took great pride in being a member of the North Carolina Federation of Republican Women.
Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband, grandson Ryan Anderson, and her parents. She is survived by her children and their spouses (Nicholas McGowan and Kelly Boughton), as well as her grandson Nicholas Aloupas.
All services will be private.

Mary Boughton will be remembered always as a cherished and important member of the North Carolina Federation of Republican Women where she served as the Vice President of the Coastal Region, as well as the President of Crystal Coast Republican Women and Chair of the Carteret County GOP. Mary worked hard for the cause she believed in, both in her club, her county and at the state and national levels. It makes me smile to recall Mary at meetings fundraising for her club - she was a force to be reckoned with - and we all contributed to Mary's projects. Mary was with us at our last national convention in Oklahoma City, and she'll be with us in spirit in Orlando.
