Mary L. Boyd, a woman of unwavering faith and infinite love, was born on January 14, 1936, in
Morrilton, Arkansas, to Thado and Comer Brockington. The sixth of eleven children, she
personified strength, resilience, and warmth throughout her vibrant and remarkable life. A
cherished mother to her only child, Earl Brockington, Sr., Mary relocated to Kansas City,
Kansas, where she built a family legacy rooted in hard work and dedication. Her contributions at
Sunshine Biscuits, followed by a rewarding career at General Motors Company, established her
as a role model for all who knew her. As an active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Mary
cherished her Sundays, participating in Sunday School under the leadership of Rev. C.L.
Bachus and Rev. Anthony Spight. Her dedication to her family was unparalleled, as she lovingly
cared for her parents until their passing. Mary had a unique gift for storytelling, and her
extraordinary memory allowed her to transport family and friends with vivid recollections of her
youth. Conversations with her were infused with laughter and wit, creating bonds that nurtured
and uplifted everyone around her. Mary's life was a beautiful symphony of melody, joy, and
profound love. Married to Clarence Boyd for many fulfilling years, they nurtured their family
together with grace and patience. Her home was a warm sanctuary, a gathering place where
family and friends flocked to share laughter, joyful memories, and, above all, the delicious meals
she created with love-her true love language. Each dish was a delightful testament to her caring
spirit and deep affection for those she held dear. Mary was extremely serious about maintaining
her Friday hair appointment, as she was a lady of immense style and grace. Mary Boyd had a
heart of gold overflowing with humor, adventure, and boundless love. Her presence lit up the
lives of everyone around her, creating cherished memories that will resonate through
generations. Though she has departed from this world, Mary's legacy will continue to thrive in
the hearts and traditions of her family, as they honor the one who embodied love, laughter, and
the spirit of togetherness. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers-Eddie
Lee, Tommy, Albert, Percy and Billy Brockington-as well as four sisters -Easter Canady,
Louvenia Verser, Ida Parks, and Bernice Clark-and her beloved son, Earl Brockington Sr.
Despite these profound losses, her spirit and laughter continued to echo within her family, a
testament to her enduring love. She is survived by her sister, Betty Fowler; granddaughter,
Le'Shawn (Shannon) Foreman; grandson, Earl Brockington, Jr.; three great-grandchildren,
Shannen Foreman Knight, Earl (Trey) Brockington III, and Sean Brockington; and two great-
great-grandchildren, Karter Knight and Karsyn Knight. Additionally, Mary leaves behind a

daughter, JoAnn Ivy, and granddaughter, LaCheryl Ivy, as well as bonus son Stan (Angel)
Harrison and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends who will forever
cherish her memory.
