Mary Kathleen Byrd, lovingly known as Kathy, passed away peacefully at the age of 77 after a courageous battle with illness. Kathy was born in Port Huron, MI, and was lovingly adopted by her late parents, Ethan and Wilma Pahl. She is now reunited in peace with her brothers—Lowell, Carroll, Daren, Deane, and Rodney Pahl—and her sister, Phyllis Adams, who all preceded her in death.,

Kathy’s love continues to shine in the lives of her two devoted children—Marsha Ennis (and her husband Patrick) and Steven Byrd; her adored grandchildren, Jacob Cook, Emma Ennis, and Patrick Ennis; her loving sister, Yvonne DiFrancesco; and a large extended family of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and countless dear friends. She was a beacon of kindness, and her gentle spirit touched all who were blessed to know her.

Kathy’s early years at the Michigan School for the Blind shaped her into a woman of remarkable strength and compassion. After graduating, she journeyed to California with her parents and later to Georgia with her sister—each move a new chapter filled with love and discovery. It was in Georgia that she found her calling in medical transcription, dedicating over 40 years to her work with unwavering care. Yet, her proudest achievement was not her career, but the love she poured into her children and grandchildren, who were always the light of her life.

Though words fall short in expressing how profoundly Kathy will be missed, her spirit will forever be felt in the warmth of the sunrises, the gentle caress of cool breezes, the golden beauty of fall leaves, the delicate elegance of blooming roses, and the quiet wisdom of owls. Her love will continue to surround us in every cherished moment of nature’s grace.

A memorial service will be planned at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to be made to Agape Hospice care of Cherokee County (Woodstock Area)
