It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Frances Carrizales, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, who transitioned into heaven on August 9, 2025 at the age of 72.
She was born on June 23, 1953, in
Gonzales, Texas. Mary Frances lived a life of tremendous love, powerful faith and contagious joy. For 54 years, she shared her life with her husband, Joe, building a home and life together on the same street she spent her childhood with her siblings. It was here that she developed a devotion to her family and an overwhelming love that she passed on to her five children, Kathy Anna, Alice Marie, Joey, Johnathon, and Jennifer.
Her life was marked by her incredible sense of humor and warm smile. She was the heart of the family, ever present and ever giving. She carried a warmth with her that is hard to describe. It was the feeling that no matter how much time you spent with her, you wanted a little more. There was a kindness she carried with her that made a lasting impact on this community over the years as she touched many lives. She spent 25 years at Gonzales ISD loving on generations of children who continue to sing her praises. Friendships were endless as everyone that came to know her loved her. She will always be remembered for her heartfelt laugh and ability to turn any situation into a memorable occasion. Her life was a continuous overflowing of kindness, generosity, and sacrificial love. No matter how great her discomfort may have been, she never complained, and her ultimate priority was always to make sure everyone around her had what they needed. There was nothing she wouldn't do for someone she loved, especially her family who had her complete heart.
Outside of her family, some of her other greatest loves were music, dancing, and gatherings with those she loved most. One of her favorite pass times was taking a road trip in the country to be out and about or even better a shopping spree. She also took great delight in jumping in the golf cart to go visit her grandkids and surprise them with a treat or relieving them from having to finish their dinner. Her grandkids may have been her ultimate joy. She spent so much time pouring into them and simply showing up and showing interest. They adored her and craved time in her home, specifically her kitchen where everyone gathered to be near and to share a meal that despite everyone's best efforts will never taste quite as good unless it was made by her hands. Her patience was impressive, it seemed that no matter how many kids were running through her home, she loved it all the more and embraced the coming and going of anyone who wanted to visit her.
When she wasn't making everyone laugh, she could be caught sitting on her porch, surrounded by her beloved pets and plants, lost in her devotional as she endlessly studied the word and sought to stay faith-filled. She loved to read and somehow managed to maintain a childlike faith no matter the hardship, her faith carried her through. Above all, she was a God-fearing woman whose faith guided every part of her life. She trusted in the Lord, found strength in prayer, and shared her faith through her actions-loving others deeply, giving without expecting in return, and serving with a humble heart. This perhaps is her greatest legacy, a life of faith, strength and servant love. There is no doubt that when she entered the gates of heaven, the Lord welcomed her with open arms by saying well done, thy good and faithful servant.
She is survived by her husband Joe; daughters Kathy Davila (Mark) of Elgin, Alice Johnson (Derrick) of Round Rock and Jennifer Crouch (Christopher Mellen) of Gonzales; sons Joey Carrizales (Wendy) and Johnathon Carrizales (Sarah) all of Gonzales; sisters Mary Jane Gaytan (Alex) and Minnie Longoria all of Gonzales; brothers Ruben Camarillo (Sonia) and Lorenzo Camarillo (Patsy) all of Gonzales. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and her precious pets Milo, Penny and Cosmo.
