She was born May 6, 1949, in Dublin, Ireland and was adopted by Howard and Dorothy Schmitz Schwendler.
Following graduation from high school she went on to x-ray technician school. She was employed by Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, rising to become chief technician of her department.
Surviving are two daughters Summer (David) Spitz of Jamestown and Heather Emery of Massachusetts; grandchildren: Taylor (Tyri) Sablan, Conor (Megan) Estrada, Nicholas Bigney, Owen Spitz, Sara Spitz, Isabelle Spitz, and Gavin Spitz; great grandchildren: Evelyn Smetska, Maeve Estrada, Calliope Sablan and Kye Sablan and a brother John (Ann) Schwendler of Kathleen, GA.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter Lyla Spitz.
A graveside service will be held at 10 am Friday in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will not be observed.
