Mary Henrichs Obituary

Mary E. Henrichs entered into rest on Friday, June 27th, 2025. Mary was born April 20th, 1936, in Valparaiso, Indiana to parents Woodburn and Katherine (Alpen) McCallum, with whom she will be reunited. Mary will also be reunited with her late husband, Karl Henrichs. She is survived by her sister, Margaret Duffin of Carmel, Indiana. Mary was a 1954 graduate of Valparaiso High School, and obtained advanced degrees from DePauw University and Valparaiso University. After graduating from DePauw Mary returned to Valparaiso, and became a reporter for the Vidette-Messenger. Mary's passion for the arts and education lead her to become a member of the Porter County Library Board and the American Association of American Women. She also volunteered at many local charities, including the Presbyterian Church Resale Shop. Mary also loved local history, assisting the Porter County Historical Society document her family's long history in Valparaiso. A celebration of life ceremony will be conducted in Carmel, IN at a date to be determined. Bartholomew Funeral Home in Valparaiso, IN is in charge of arrangements.
