Mary Jane Holman, of Delton, Michigan, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025, at the age of 91. She was born on October 30, 1933, in Hastings, Michigan, the daughter of Frank and Lutina Andrus.
Mary was a 1951 graduate of Hastings High School, and went on to earn her bachelor's degree from Michigan State University in 1955. She built a career as an administrative professional, serving at Hope College, where she managed the Dow Center from 1972 until her retirement in 1993.
In 1956, Mary married James Petersen, and in 1991, she was united in marriage to Paul Holman, who survives her. Mary was an active and engaged woman throughout her life. She had a deep love for golf and equestrian riding, and she took great joy in waterskiing outings with her sons at Wall Lake. A talented and avid Bridge player, she earned a Silver Master designation in recognition of her skill and dedication to the game.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Jim Petersen. She is survived by her husband, Paul Holman; sons Frank (Liz) Petersen and Carl (Patti) Petersen; grandchildren Stephanie (Jamey) Forkins, Courtney (Ben) Glaze, Mitchell Petersen, and Jayden (Rebecca) Petersen.
In accordance with Mary's wishes, no formal services will be held.
