Mary Evalyn "Pat" Hoover Meek, 94, of Tyler, went home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, October 22, at Prestige Estates Assisted Living and Memory Care. This devoted, faithful wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and great-grandmother is completely healed and whole in the presence of our Heavenly Father. We rejoice with her and are forever grateful to have been loved by her.
Pat was born on January 22, 1931, in Lamar County, Texas, to Reverend Curtis Holland Hoover and Vada Mae Fendley. She graduated from Prairiland High School in Deport, TX, and went on to work at Baylor Hospital Pharmacy in Dallas and at Service Master in Chicago.
Pat married Ross Meek in 1971, and they celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary in January 2017. Together, they enjoyed loving their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, as well as entertaining their many friends and serving their churches in many capacities, all for the glory of God. They especially loved singing and traveling with the celebration and highest praise choirs of Green Acres Baptist Church, here in Tyler. Pat enjoyed making new friends and participating in all the activities at Prestige Estates. She loved and honored God with her life and served her precious Savior, Jesus Christ. She blessed all of our lives in so many ways with her servant's heart, her kindness, and her humor. She loved playing the piano and played "The Call to Worship" at Prestige when her sight allowed. Pat was also known for being a fabulous cook and hostess, an excellent seamstress, a painter, a youth leader at church, and a serious Chickenfoot and BINGO player.
Pat is survived by her children, Paula Kimbrough of Mt. Pleasant, Pam Miller of Marshall and her husband Glen, Marsha Bowman of Omaha and her husband Willis, and Robert McKee of Lindale. She was "GranGran" to Dale and Rebecca McKee, Jessica and Michael Bronisz, Susan McKee, Chrystal and Marcus Osborn, Douglas and Laura Kimbrough, Darren and Amber Kimbrough, Dori and Brandon Ballard, Dyan Kimbrough, Meredith and Jacob Bingham, Laurelyn and Franklyn Adams, Lindsay and Brandon Trolinder, and 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. Pat also loved her many cousins, nieces, nephews, and loving friends. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Vada Mae Hoover, her brother Floyd Hoover, her husband, Ross Meek, her daughter, Lynne McKee, her son, Don Green, her son-in-law, Jed Humphrey, and her grandson, Daniel Green.
Pallbearers are Willis Bowman, Aly Miller, Doug Kimbrough, Darren Kimbrough, Brandon Ballard, Jacob Bingham, and Brandon Trolinder. Honorary Pallbearers are Dale McKee, Franklyn Adams, Marcus Osborn, and Mike Bronisz.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Stewart Family Funeral Home at 3 pm with Rev. Ken Brumley and Rev. Kevin Burdette officiating. Her visitation will be at 2:30 pm prior to the service. A private Family Burial will precede the visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Prestige Estates Assisted Living & Memory Care, 6928 Paluxy Dr.,
Tyler, TX 75703. These donations will be in honor of Pat's memory.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Kristy Redman and the Prestige Estates Assisted Living and Memory Care Family, to the Enhabit Hospice Staff and to the Stewart Family for their compassionate kindness and care.
